IMPORTANT: Changing the SSID and security string of your Wi-Fi Direct connection will likely cause connection failures for devices that are connected with the existing SSID and security string. You will need to reconnect to Wi-Fi Direct with the new SSID and security string (password).

Yes, you can change the SSID and security string for Wi-Fi Direct.

There are two ways to change:

Option 1: Customize your SSID and security string for Wi-Fi Direct. 

  1. From the printer control panel, select Network Settings > Manage Wi-Fi Direct > Advanced Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter an SSID and security string of your choice.

Option 2: Let the printer regenerate the SSID and security string.

  1. From the printer control panel, select Printer Settings > Reset All Settings to reset all printer settings to the factory defaults. If your printer is connected to a wireless network (router) at the same time, you will need to re-establish the connection.
  2. Select Network Settings > Manage Wi-Fi Direct > Start Wi-Fi Direct Hotspot. A new SSID and security string will be generated and appear on the LCD.
  3. Make note of the new SSID and security string, then press OK.
