To determine how your printer is connected, look in the lower right corner of the LCD.
If you see: | The printer has: |
| a Wi-Fi Direct connection (only) |
a Wi-Fi connection (router) | |
both a Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct connection |
To determine whether the connection between the printer and device is Wi-Fi with a router or Wi-Fi Direct:
- Select Network Settings > View [or Print, depending on your preference] Network Configuration to obtain information, such as the SSID (network name) your printer is connected to or the Wi-Fi Direct SSID and security string.
- On the connected computer or mobile device, determine the network SSID that the device is connected to.
- Compare the network SSID of the device with the SSID of the printer.
- If the SSID of the device is the same as the SSID for Wi-Fi Direct, the connection is Wi-Fi Direct.
- If the SSID of the device is the SSID for the Wi-Fi network, the connection between the device and the printer is Wi-Fi with a router.
