Review the following best practices if you are having problems connecting your all-in-one printer to a wireless network:
- Check that your router is turned on and located within 100 ft (approximately 30 m) of the printer.
- To reduce interference, temporarily turn off any other router that you are not connecting your printer to.
- Connect your printer to the same network name (SSID) that your computer is connected to.
- If the signal strength of your network is less than 60 percent:
- Check for obstacles such as refrigerators between your router and printer.
- Relocate the printer and router closer together.
- Move your router to another location.
- Place the router near the center of the room, and off the ground.
- Do not place the router near:
- microwave ovens
- cordless telephones
- baby monitors
- wireless game controllers
- wireless voice headsets and speakers
- video and audio streaming devices
- metallic surfaces or mirrors that may reflect the signal
- Point the router antennas away from power cords and other cables.
- Switch your router to a different channel. For the best signal strength, set your router to:
- Channel 6 (alternatively Channel 1 or 11 if the signal strength for channel 6 is below 60 percent) for home setup
- Channel 3 or 8 for office setup
NOTE: If your neighbor has a router set to the same channel as your router, the signal can be affected.
- Some routers support additional high-gain antennas that focus the signal toward a specific direction and extend the range.
- You can also purchase a wireless repeater to boost the signal of your router.
