To resolve the message:

  1. Press Cancel from the printer control panel.
  2. Type the correct User ID and password for your Email Profile using the Online Printer Management Tool.
  3. From your computer, open your preferred Web browser (such as Internet Explorer).
  4. Type your printer IP Address in the browser address (URL) bar, then press Enter.
  5. Select Settings > Scan to Email > Email Profile.
  6. Select your email profile from the list, then select Edit.
  7. Make sure to type the correct User ID and password for SMTP Authentication.
    • Select The email sever requires authentication for outgoing email check box.
    • Type the User ID and password that you use to log on to your email.
  8. Select Test Profile.
    • If the message Test Profile: failed  appears, see
    • If the message Test Profile: success appears, the result is successful; select OK.
  9. Scroll down and select SAVE to save the profile.
  10. Try to use the Scan to Email feature again from your printer control panel.
