You may experience this problem when using Image Capture to scan from your printer using MAC OS 10.6.

To resolve:

  1. Start the Image Capture application.
  2. Depending on your printer connection, follow the appropriate steps: 
    1. USB cable - Select Devices, then select your printer.
    2. Wi-Fi/Ethernet - Select Shared, then select your printer.
  3. Click Show Details
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the scan.
