Remove and inspect the paper tray.

CAUTION: Do not place the printer on its top or right side when you remove the paper tray. Ink could possibly leak into the printer and cause damage.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. From the back of the printer, disconnect:
    • power cord
    • USB cable (if used)
  3. Turn the printer on its left side.
  4. Open the paper tray.
  5. From the bottom of the printer, do the following depending on your printer model:

     ESP 3250/5210/5250

     ESP 3 or 5

    a. Remove:

    • Screw
    • Retainer
    • Paper tray

    a. Remove:

    • Screw - A (2)
    • Retainer - B
    • Paper Tray - C

    b. Slide the paper tray forward, then remove it.

  6. Check the paper tray for the following:
    • surface scratches
    • bends
    • ink contamination
    • broken parts
  7. If the paper tray is broken, we're sorry but there are no longer any spare parts available for these discontinued printers, otherwise do the following:
  8. Install the parts that were removed in Step 5.
  9. Place the printer upright.
  10. Connect:
    • power cord
    • USB cable (if used)
  11. Turn on the printer.
  12. Make a print to check the functionality of the paper tray.
