This error message may indicate that an Easyshare.exe file is set to run in compatibility mode.

IMPORTANT: Print this page before continuing.

Solution 1

  1. Right-click the KODAK EASYSHARE Software icon on your desktop, then select Properties.
  2. Select the Compatibility tab.
  3. Clear the Run this program in compatibility mode check box.
  4. Click Apply, then OK.
  5. Start EASYSHARE Software. If successful, do not attempt solutions 2 or 3.

Solution 2

  1. Select Start > Search.
  2. Select All Files and Folders.
  3. In the All or Part of the file name box, type vistaedit.esx, and click Search.
  4. Right-click the vistaedit.esx file, and change the file extension to .old.
  5. Close all windows, and quit all programs.
  6. Start EASYSHARE Software. If successful, do not attempt solution 3.

Solution 3

  1. Select Start > Turn Off Computer.
  2. Select Restart, and click OK.
  3. While the computer is restarting, Press F8.
  4. When the "Please select the operating system to start" message appears, select Safe Mode, then press the Enter key.
  5. Select Start > My Computer > C > Program Files > KODAK > KODAK EASYSHARE Software > bin.
  6. Right-click the Catalog folder, then select Properties.
  7. Select the Security tab.
  8. Verify that Full Control for the Administrators group is selected, then click OK.
  9. Restart the computer in Normal Mode.
  10. Start EASYSHARE Software.
