IMPORTANT: To avoid paper jams in the Automatic Document Feeder, do not:

  • Load photo paper in the Automatic Document Feeder.
  • Overload the Automatic Document Feeder with originals.

    • Use the supported paper sizes for the feeder.
    • Refer to printer's User Guide for supported original sizes and paper types.

To resolve the feeder jam:

  1. Remove the fax originals from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
  2. Clear any originals that are jammed in the ADF.
  3. Reseat the top cover of the ADF.
    • Be sure that both sides of the ADF cover snap into place.
  4. When the error is clear, load the originals in the feeder:
    • Move the ADF paper-edge guides outward.
    • Fan and stack your originals.
    • Insert your originals face up in the ADF.
    • Move the ADF paper-edge guides until they touch the paper.
  5. Select Fax.
  6. Enter the fax number.
  7. Press Send.


If the error continues, power cycle the printer:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter from the printer.
  3. Wait 30 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
  4. Connect the power adapter to the printer. Turn on the printer if necessary.


If the error continues, try to send the fax using the scanner glass instead of the Automatic Document Feeder.
