To resolve the error, install a color ink cartridge. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.


NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see .

If the error continues, reinstall the color ink cartridge:

  1. Remove the color ink cartridge.
    1. Open the printer access door. (For some printers you may need to follow the instructions on the LCD screen. Press OK to move the ink cartridge to the center of the printer.)
    2. Wait until the printhead is idle and silent, then pinch the latch on the color ink cartridge with your thumb and forefinger and lift it out of the printhead.

      IMPORTANT: Make sure you are using KODAK Ink Cartridges. Your printer is designed to work with KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of either non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. Kodak sells multiple ink types; make sure you are installing the correct KODAK Ink Cartridge for your printer.
  2. Check the two electrical contacts on the ink cartridge for small marks, which should appear if the cartridge was installed correctly.

    If the electrical contacts do not have small marks:

    1. Reinstall the ink cartridge, making sure you press down on it until it clicks into position.

    2. Remove the color ink cartridge, then check the two electrical contacts on the ink cartridge again for small marks. Repeat if necessary.
  3. Reinstall the ink cartridge.
  4. Close the printer access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

If the error condition continues:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait five seconds.
  4. Connect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer.
