A watermark is text that is printed on the first or all pages of a document, usually in a larger font size, and in a variety of shades and colors. Examples are CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or PROOF. The watermark can be printed diagonally across the page, horizontally, or at an angle of your choice. To set up a watermark for your document:
  1. From the program you are using, such as MICROSOFT Word, select Print.
  2. Click Properties.

NOTE: You might need to select Preferences instead of Properties, depending on your program.

  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Watermark field, click Custom.
  5. Select the text you want from the list of Available watermarks.
    • To add a new watermark:
      1. Click the New Watermark icon (+) next to "Available watermarks".
      2. Type the Text you want in the Watermark message field.

  6. Change the Message angle and Font information as needed.
  7. Click OK.
  8. To print the watermark only on the first page of your document, select Print only on first page.
  9. Click OK to save your settings.
NOTE: The settings will remain in the program you are using until you change them. If you don't want a watermark the next time you print, make sure to select (None) before you print.
