This error indicates that the paper installed in your printer is not the correct size for the paper size you chose, or that a problem has occurred with the printer. Some glossy papers interfere with the paper sensor in the printer and can cause this message to appear.

To resolve this error:

  1. Make sure you are using paper that is supported for your all-in-one printer; check your user guides for supported papers.
  2. Load the correct paper size in the paper tray.
  3. Make sure the paper size you loaded is the same size selected:
    • Go to the file you want to print, then select Print from the application.
    • Select Properties or Preferences.
    • On the General tab, change the Paper size, if needed.
    • Click OK.
IMPORTANT: The paper size will be reset to the default size in My Preferences after each print job unless you click the icon to Save Current Preferences.
  4. If the error continues, try the same paper size with a different finish.

If you get this error when printing on colored paper or paper with a decorative border:

  1. In the paper tray, load a sheet of white document paper on top of the colored or bordered paper.
  2. Select Print, then change the "Number of copies" to the number you want plus 1 (example: If you want 3 copies, select 4).
  3. Click Print.
The printer will detect the sheet of white paper, then print the colored or bordered paper.
NOTE: Occasionally, the printer may not detect some shades of colored paper.
If the error continues after you follow the above steps, try printing to a different color of paper.
