If your printer is connected via a wireless network:
- Turn off your printer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it on.
- If the error continues:
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- In the Hardware section, select Print & Fax.
- Click the "+" sign, then highlight your printer in the Bonjour list.
- Click Add.
NOTE: If your printer is not listed, verify that your printer is still connected to your network. Refer to your printer's Wireless Networking Set-Up Guide for more information.
If your printer is connected via USB cable:
- Make sure:
- the USB cable is securely connected to the printer and computer.
- the printer is connected directly to your computer and not through a USB hub or other device.
- you are using a USB High Speed 2.0 cable, and the distance between the printer and computer is less than 1.8 m (6 ft).
- If the error continues:
- Disconnect the USB cable from your printer and computer.
- Reconnect the USB cable to your printer, making sure it is secure.
NOTE: Do NOT connect the USB cable to your computer. - From your computer:
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- In the Hardware section, select Print & Fax.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer.
- When the computer detects the printer, it will appear in the printer list.
NOTE: If the printer does not appear in the list, connect the USB cable to a different port on your computer.
- If the error still continues, use a different USB cable.
NOTE: You can test your USB cable by connecting another USB device to your computer using the USB cable.
If you cannot print using a USB connection, but you can print using a network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) the error may be caused by a conflict with the third-party software CANDLEAIR.
- Determine if you have CANDLEAIR Software installed:
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
If CANDLEAIR Software is installed, it will be listed in the Other row of the System Preferences window.
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- To resolve the printing issue with a USB connection, uninstall CANDLEAIR:
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- Click CANDLEAIR, then click Uninstall.
- If prompted, type your user password, then click OK.
- Click Restart Computer.
- To re-install CANDLEAIR Software at a later time, if needed:
- Under the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- Click CANDLEAIR.
- Click Install.
- If prompted, type your user password, then click OK.
- Click Quit.
