To resolve the issue:

IMPORTANT: If you experience this error immediately after installing a new ink cartridge, try reinstalling the previous ink cartridge.

  • If the same error now occurs with both the previous and new ink cartridges, contact us for further assistance.
  • If the error occurs only with the new ink cartridge, complete the following steps to resolve the problem.

  1. Reseat the new black ink cartridge in your printer.
IMPORTANT: You must select the correct KODAK Ink Cartridge for your printer. For more information, see . KODAK All-in-One Printers are designed to work with KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of either non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges.
    1. Open the access door.
NOTE: If the ink cartridges do not move to the center, see .
    2. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge with your thumb and forefinger and lift it out of the printhead.
    3. Install the black ink cartridge back into the printer, making sure to press down firmly on the thumb tab until it clicks into place.
  2. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.
For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
  3. If the error continues, restart your printer:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Wait five seconds.
    3. Turn on the printer.
  4. If the error continues, and you have extra, new KODAK Ink Cartridges on hand, try installing a new black ink cartridge(s).
