To turn on bidirectional support:
  1. Click Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click your Advent all-in-one printer, then click Properties.
  3. Click the Ports tab.
  4. Select the check box next to Virtual printer port for USB.
  5. Select the check box next to Enable bidirectional support.
  6. Click OK.

If the message "bidirectional support is disabled" continues:

  1. Disconnect the printer from the computer if it is connected using a USB printer cable.
  2. Delete the all-in-one printer icon:
    • WINDOWS XP or VISTA: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
    • WINDOWS 7: Click Start > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click the all-in-one printer icon and select Delete.
  3. Click Start > Programs (or All Programs) > AdventADVENT Printer Set-Up Utility.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
  5. Connect the printer using the USB printer cable when prompted, if necessary.
