- Click Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes.
- Right-click your Advent all-in-one printer, then click Properties.
- Click the Ports tab.
- Select the check box next to Virtual printer port for USB.
- Select the check box next to Enable bidirectional support.
- Click OK.
If the message "bidirectional support is disabled" continues:
- Disconnect the printer from the computer if it is connected using a USB printer cable.
- Delete the all-in-one printer icon:
- WINDOWS XP or VISTA: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
- WINDOWS 7: Click Start > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the all-in-one printer icon and select Delete.
- Click Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Advent > ADVENT Printer Set-Up Utility.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
- Connect the printer using the USB printer cable when prompted, if necessary.
