4 x 6 in. (10 x 15 cm) photo paper may curl before or after printing - especially if it's not protected from high or low humidity. Curled paper may cause printer jams, crooked prints, damaged paper, or a damaged printhead.
To prevent curling
- Store unprinted paper in a tightly closed plastic bag or in its original packaging.
- When you are ready to print, take only the paper you intend to use immediately.
Before you begin, if the paper:
- Has already been printed, first let it dry completely.
- Has not been printed, fix only the paper you intend to use immediately.
- Place the paper in a plastic bag or in its original packaging.
- Gently bend the paper in the opposite direction of the curl, then insert it into a tube - a paper towel tube works well.
NOTE: The tube should be larger than 1.5 in. (4 cm) in diameter. - After a few minutes, remove the paper from the tube. Then remove it from the plastic bag or packaging.
- If the paper is still curled, repeat the procedure.
- Use unprinted paper as soon as possible.
