This error message indicates that the paper installed in your printer is not the correct size for the paper size you chose, or that a problem has occurred with the printer. Some glossy papers interfere with the paper sensor in the printer and can cause this message to appear.

NOTE: If this error occurs when printing to special media such as labels, paper with a letterhead, or colored paper, see .

To resolve this error:

For computers with a WINDOWS Operating System:

  1. Make sure you are using paper that is supported for the printer.
  2. Load the correct paper size in the paper tray.
  3. Make sure the paper size you loaded is the same size selected:
    1. Open the file you want to print, then select Print.
    2. Select Properties (or Preferences).
    3. On the General tab, change the Paper size, if needed.
    4. Click OK.
      IMPORTANT: The paper size will be reset to the default size in My Preferences after each print job unless you click the icon to Save Current Preferences.
    5. On the Advanced tab, under Paper type, change the setting from Auto Select to the paper type you have loaded into the printer, then click OK.
    6. Click Print.

For computers with a MACINTOSH OS:

  1. Select the upper-left Apple Icon.
  2. Select System Preferences.
  3. Select Printer and Fax.
  4. Select your printer from the printer list.
  5. Set the Default Paper Size selection to the paper size that is loaded in the printer.
  6. Print the job again.

If the error message continues, try the same paper size with a different finish.
