1) Check these items:
- The camera is turned on. (If the camera does not turn on, see .)
- The battery/batteries have power. Replace or recharge the battery/batteries.
- The battery/batteries are correctly inserted.
- The camera is finished processing the previous picture/video.
- The camera is in picture-taking mode. (If it's in Review mode, press the Shutter button halfway down to return to picture-taking mode.
- Make sure you can see your subject (and not a picture you've already taken) on the LCD. Try switching to another picture-taking mode.
Note: Do you have a Z981 camera with a vertical shutter button?
Slide the Vertical Shutter switch (on the camera top) to enable the desired Shutter button.
2) Make sure the card or internal memory has room for new pictures. Either:
- Transfer all pictures/videos to your computer, or
- Delete pictures/videos from the camera, or
- Insert a memory card with available memory.
Are you experiencing a delay when taking a picture?
- Press the Shutter button halfway down to set the focus and exposure.
- When the framing marks on the camera LCD turn green, press the Shutter button completely down. If you don't press halfway down, you'll experience a delay as the camera focuses and sets the exposure.
Note: If the camera cannot focus or set the exposure, you can't take a picture. Either:
- Move further away from your subject, or
- Add some light, or
- Make sure the flash setting is turned on.
