Before you try the following solutions, save your pictures that are on the memory card.
If you have a computer with a card reader, do the following:

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the memory card.
  3. Insert the memory card into your computer card reader.
  4. Copy the pictures from the memory card to your computer.
  5. Remove the memory card from the card reader.
Try these solutions:
  • Be sure to use the card  (SD, SDHC, etc.).
  • Ensure the card is fully inserted in the camera.
    1. Turn off the camera, insert a card into the slot, then push the card until it clicks to seat it.
  • Turn on the camera and check that Image Storage is set to Auto, Automatic or Memory Card.
    • If the camera has the Image Storage set to Internal Memory, the camera won't read the memory card.
    • NOTE: Not all cameras have Internal Memory.
    1. Press the Menu button, then find the Image Storage choice. (It may be under the Setup menu tab.)
    2. Change the Image Storage setting to Auto, Automatic, or Memory Card.
    3. Press the Menu button to exit.
  • CAUTION: Formatting deletes all pictures and videos, including those that are protected. Removing a card during formatting may damage the card.
The card may be corrupted or formatted for a different camera. Reformat the memory card in this camera.

    1. Press the Menu button, then find the Format choice. (It may be under the Setup menu tab.)
    2. Choose Memory Card and press the OK button.
    3. Follow the prompts to format the card.

NOTE: If your camera has internal memory, there is enough room for a few practice pictures.
