Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. The message lets you know the printer is out of color ink. Replace only the color ink cartridge. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges.

NOTE:

If this message occurs while faxing:

  • Replace the ink cartridge before faxing again only if you have an ESP 9 or EASYSHARE 5500 All- in-One Printer.
  • For all other printer models with faxing capability, press Cancel, then continue faxing. At your earliest convenience, replace the ink cartridge.

If this message occurs while scanning:

  • Replace the ink cartridge before scanning again only if you have an EASYSHARE 5100, 5300, or 5500, or an ESP 3, 5, 7, or 9 All-in-One Printer.
  • For all other printer models, press Cancel, then continue scanning. At your earliest convenience, replace the ink cartridge.

To clear the message, replace only the color ink cartridge:

  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

    NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 All-in-One Printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see .

  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the color ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new color ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the color ink cartridge.

    CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.

  6. Insert the color ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down firmly on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

If the message continues after you replace the color ink cartridge:

  1. Confirm that new ink cartridge is a genuine, unaltered KODAK color ink cartridge.
  2. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the message.
